Huckabee Right for the Future of America

While all of the GOP candidates are struggling to establish themselves as the right man to lead the party to victory in 2008, one is clearly gaining steam. Former Gov. Mike Huckabee has managed to wow every audience he has addressed with his directness, intelligence, and his integrity on the issues. He is a man who clearly has a vision for the future of the country, and his unabashedness about his faith and how it defines him is truly refreshing. This is a candidate who has a positive message of hope, and offers real answers to the issues facing both the party and the nation.
On both the sanctity of human life and gay marriage he is undeniably the most conservative choice. On taxes and health care he has a clear message that addresses the issues head on, addressing the issue of Health Care Reform while at the same time revolutionizing the tax code and supporting lower taxes. He, also, addresses the issue of illegal immigration with the same directness as he does every single issue, supporting a sealed border and opposing amnesty. He is very intelligent, quite likeable, and truly genuine.
So, why is it that so many within the party seem reluctant in their support of this brilliant man, who seems to have what it takes to rally the party and even defeat Hillary if given the chance? I believe it is quite possibly a combination of things that Huckabee faces in this challenge to win the nomination and the Presidency. First, is the issue of electibility that seems to plague even the most conservative of the voters, and is quite possibly emerging as the new conservative value among the values voters. Yet, as Huckabee makes his limited appearances, he is even beginning to catch fire among their ranks as well, as evidenced in the FRC Straw Poll.
Another of the challenges is the more liberal fringe that is ratcheting their verbal barrage of name calling and unfounded attacks, reminiscent of the attacks of the very far left during the last 8 years. Some of which, I believe to be the result of the Libertarian running as a Republican and the following he has brought into the campaign. Yet, here again, nothing has even begun to slow down the momentum and the energy that Huckabee, who has been elected and re-elected in a very liberal state, has generated.
In closing, Huckabee is the tried and true conservative in the race who will be able to bring the party together and bring the fight to the door of the liberals, come hell or high water, in November 2008.

Huckabee Gets Big Win in Debates

While electability still seems to be the new conservative value, Huckabee is still gaining steam. He showed very strong in tonight's debate, intelligently tackling every question and the issues that they represented. He clearly is showing himself to be more than capable of taking on the front-runners and Hillary as well. It, also, seems to be the case that every time he is presented with an opportunity to address an audience he wows them with his clearness, intelligence, and his leadership.  In his appearance tonight, he scored very high with his audience according to polls conducted by Fox News afterwards, and he outscored Guliani, Romney, and Thompson, leaving them far behind.
Clearly, Huckabee is the strongest conservative candidate out there and is only gaining momentum, yet he faces the callenge among the voters of electibility taking priority over issues.  In fact, the issue of electibility seems to be the number one concern of many conservative voters. However, with that being said and with the limited resources he has in comparison to some of the others, he is becoming an unstoppable force as his numbers continue to rise. It is becoming evident that Rudy and McCain aren't the only viable options out there to beat the dems in 2008, but perhaps, Huckabee is the candidate that energize the conservatives and rally the base, while also offering a strong option against Hillary. He certainly has my vote. How about you?

The Latest Wind Test

Why is it that voters want politicians who will actually keep their promises and be true to their convictions, yet seem to send just the opposite message to the candidates? It seems that most voters are mainly concerned with the latest polls and focus groups and are more interested in getting behind this candidate or that candidate based on whether or not he or she can beat the other parties nominee. Since when have Americans decided that testing the wind is the first step in deciding which candidate they support, when they seem to want exactly the opposite from elected leadership.
When you look at Guliani, you see a donkey wearing an elephant costume, yet the prevailing theory is that he has to be the nominee because he can beat Clinton.  In fact, his own theme in Iowa commercial spots is "The Candidate Democrats Just Don't Want to Run Against."
Then you find Romney, the guy a lot of radical conservatives seem to find attractive(including myself until recently), who is courting the far right. However, upon close examination, I find that he tends to ride the fence on some key issues, and it could possibly be said that his recent transformations appear to be aimed at courting the far right (folks like myself) and not losing ground with the moderates either.
When it comes to Thompson, well, let's just say that I truly have serious doubts that there are any Reagans left to find from Hollywood. So, I found myself in a quandry over who else there was to support. Should I support my first initial choice even before I was sure he would run, or should I immediately assume like all the rest that he doesn't stand a chance on a cold day in "you-know-where" and go for a guy who had a better chance like Romney.
I began researching the positions of this candidate who stands for everything that we conservatives believe in and found that not only was he someone who brought common sense to politics, but he is also frank, sincere, and has a vision for America. So, why is it that so many conservatives seem to be afraid to support this man who has been elected and re-elected to the same job that was formerly Bill Clinton's and has a clear, proven track record and a vision for the future of this country. (Yes I am referring to Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas.) I believe it is because many of us are to ready to test the wind rather than vote our conscience, yet, I believe that if more of us were to follow our convictions, the issue of testing the wind would no longer be an issue. For I believe that Mike Huckabee is the candidate who can energize the base and lead us to victory in 2008 because if we campaign on the issues there is no way we can lose.
